trickflow 430 hp kit or le2 kit?
Im starting to think about trying to get some more power outta my 97. Im debating which way to go.
The trickflow 430hp kit includes heads, cam (219/227), all hardware, gasket set, and roller rockers for $2500.
The Le2 claims 370 rwhp with a slightly smaller cam (218/224) but includes no hardware gasket set or roller rockers for $1600.
My two questions are:
A: Which is a better buy?
B: Which is gonna be a better daily driver setup?

Have you considered www.advancedinduction.com as well?
Just to make your head hurt even more...haha.

I do like those advancedinduction lt4 heads but how would my lowend performance compare?
LE2: 205cc runners
AI LT4:215 cc

Lloyds cam is not smaller, its a much more radical cam. I have the LE2 setup on 97 Formula. If you want performance with the sound of an old school NA car, LE2 is the way to go. The LE2 cam turns heads at every car show I go to. The specs of that trick flow cam look to be more steetable than the LE2.2 cam.

I just looked at Lloyds site, and the cam you are comparing with the Trickflow cam is Lloyds smallest cam. I guess what your looking for is steetability. The LE2.2 Cam I was referring to is 230, with an LSA OF 107, I dont want to give out the lift because I dont want to give out Lloyds specs. rest assured its not 370 RWHP. What are you looking for? HP, or streetability?

Im looking for low end power. The car will probably never see the track im not worried about having a choppy idle. I would like to see similar characteristics to my Z06 with instant power at lower rpm. I dont necessarily want it as fast as the z06 but I am looking for it to behave the same.

llyods LE2 stuff is nice BUT witht he trickflows you are getting a way better casting and more room to go with a thicker deck. You could always get the trickflows and have llyod port those and make awesome numbers!
My 383 LE2 with a 234/242 cam made 420ish to the tire N/A This was thru an auto and 12 bolt

Attached is a good article explaining camshafts. In general a cam with a higher LSA will give you more lowend power. So you dont want the cam I am using. Why dont you call lloyd, and have him spec out a cam for what you want? The LE2 ported heads will outflow the Trickflows, but not if you have Lloyd port the trickflows. But thats going to cost more money.

talk to llyod about what your looking for and he will spec you out something that will meet your needs.

did you do your project yet?
im looking at just heads right now. im going to keep the hotcam in. im leaning toward the trickflows because they are not much more money and you are buying heads rather than just a port job....
trickflows seem to be the better value IMO. not to say LE doesnt do great work.

Let's cut the "best" bullcrap before things get locked up.
Lloyd Elliott of Elliott Portworks or Advanced Induction can each create a setup within your budget to meet your goals. Both companies know what they are doing, I suggest calling both and speaking with them about your goals and budget, then you pick who to send money to.
I have friends who run both LE and AI and all of them are very satisfied with the results.
