Question trouble code

I am getting a trouble code in my 95 ta. It is malf 48: malf system failed. I was wondering if this was my O2 sensor or some thing to do with my opti. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: trouble code

Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor circuit

That's what DTC 48 is for and what you need to check.

Re: trouble code

Its the MAF. Mass Airflow Sensor. It is located on the intake coming off of the TB. Its a big Silver round thing.

Re: trouble code

It really helps when you tell about your car, transmission, mods and any other pertinent info. You can't expect educated help without it. Most people put these things in a signature.

Start by making sure the MAF has power on the pink wire (key ON). We also don't know if your code is constant or intermittent.

Re: trouble code

It does start. This just started yesterday. The car runs. The only thing it did was cut out a couple of times. Yes the light stays on. Car has a vortec supercharger, 6 psi boost 42# injectors and mail order tune. The rest of the car is stock with 6 speed

Re: trouble code

You might want to clean the electrodes on the MAF with some rubbing alcohol and a q-tip. BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO DAMAGE THEM. If not, a replacement is going to need to be purchased..
