trouble codes

Hello, got code 29 and one for egr. Every time I put a new fuse in for the pump, it just blows it. Does it need replaced? Are all the lt1 pumps the same? Could have swore one of mine had one plug and the other had two, but I may be mistaken.

What would the egr be for, the valve or the solenoid?

Thank you ahead of time.

Re: trouble codes

DTC 29 is for the AIR system... has nothing to do with the EGR system, unless you have a 93 where they combined two pipes into one, to permit a single connection on the passenger side exhaust manifold.

The pump is probably rusted/seized and pulling excessive amps. Unplug the pump, then put the new fuse in. Do not hook the pump back up. Pump won't work, but it also won't set a code/SES light.

There is a recall on the 95 and newer AIR pumps for this reason.

I got a septate code for the egr. I have a spare air pump outside I will use. Would it be the egr vacuum solenoid that would set a code?

Re: trouble codes

Which code did you get:

DTC 27 = EGR solenoid circuit

DTC 32 = lack of EGR flow (determined by looking for a change in the MAP sensor reading when the PCM commands EGR valve to open.)

Not sure what the number was,I removed it. But i'm Perry sure it just said egr failure. I use an auto xray ez link scanner. It was a history code but it had to of been from this car because my Trans am hasn't been running for months.

Re: trouble codes

All you need to do is use Shoebox's code list which is specifically for the LT1. The generic description provided by many OBD-I scanners is often not accurate.
