trying to rebuild engine...
My boyfriend has a 1994 Z28 Camaro that currently has the engine ripped apart. The heads were warped in it so he took it apart and had everything machined and has gotten all new parts. However, he doesn't know enough about the car to put it back together confidently. He's afraid of spending all of that money on it and having something put back together wrong and the guy that was going to help him was just in an accident. Anyway...what I was wondering was...is there anybody that would like to make some money on the side putting the engine back together? I'd like to do this for him as an early Christmas gift...
I'm willing to pay $30+ an hour. I live in York Pennsylvania.

hate to say this but he shouldnt have taken it apart if he couldnt put it back together, but he knows this already,as far as 30.00 an hour thats kinda cheap i might be wrong but maybe if you kick the price up to say 45-50 an hour you might get somebody to help,

it's really not too difficult if you read up on it and ask alot of questions. pick up both a chiltons and haynes repair manual. also the LT1-Lt4 rebuilding book is very helpful. rebuilding an engine is little more than being careful and turning a wrench. I've done several, it's not that difficult if you take your time and don't start any step till you fully understand it. also talk to local mechanics and car guys. he'll gain alot of useful info and maybe an extra hand just by talking to people. it sounds like a huge task but the LT1 is really a very simple engine.
if he decides to take on the challenge, have him follow the above advice and if you have any questions feel free to PM me.

If I was close, I would lend a hand. But I agree that it isn't that hard. I had never done anything like that before either and thought I had help. So as soon as it was apart all of my help got busy doing other stuff. But I put mine together alone and had no problems. I bought the service manual online when they had a sale, and that helped me with everything I needed. I'll also agree that getting it apart is harder than putting it back together. It took me longer than it probably should have, but I wanted to make sure I did everything right.
