Aren't cars fun? I just got done replacing valve seals and got almost all the oil leak fixed I think.

Hope you get your oiling problem figured out. Like Shon said drop about half a quart at a time and see.

Re: Ugh, more oil pressure woes, pressure is dropping at WOT now..

Your pressure relief is opening at that RPM and bypassing the oil.
I didn't think it would do it but I'm wrong. Ya going to have to put in a stiffer spring.
Call whoever made the pump and get their recommended spring or I can have ya a pump built that won't do that. (same people I use-- about $110.00)

Not too much oil either.Just when the relief opens it bypasses to much and knock's the pressure down.

LR,
Is there a pressure relief within the pump? I know that the 1060R filter is supposed to not even have a bypass valve in it. Didn't know which you were referring to.

Yes the pump has a relief governed by the spring in the side.

Re: Ugh, more oil pressure woes, pressure is dropping at WOT now..

Thanks Larry, I had a feeling there was something "opening" all of a sudden and releasing pressure.. the autometer gauge shows how freakin' fast the pressure all of a sudden drops on me...

I know the spring in the pump is a purple spring.. I've heard alot said about a "white" spring.... hmmm.

It's a Melling M55HV pump... I guess I'll give 'em a call!

Will a different spring also bring that high pressure down at lower RPM's? It seems way too high when I'm cruising (60 psi)... wouldn't that rob the car of power too?

Re: Ugh, more oil pressure woes, pressure is dropping at WOT now..

No 'cause the relief isn't open then, well maybe on a cold morning.
I thought ya had loose clearances in this engine?????
Melling can get ya fixed up with the correct spring. Talk to a tech/engineer and not a salesman.

Ya may have to run a straight 20 weight in it till ya get a few miles on it.
I run them with more than 60psi. Some go 100+psi out the back door.Idle at 40+10psi x 7000. Can't do that with a hyd cam.

Yep, loose clearances.. is something indicating otherwise? Just curious so I know!

So on this part basically what you're saying is that I should *not* be seeing 100psi at high RPM correct? Not followin' ya 100% on that last part.

Ya running a hyd cam?
All that pressure indicates not so loose. Ya got a HV pump not a high pressure.
When I say loose I mean .0025/.0027 on the rods and .0027/.0030 on the mains.

Re: Ugh, more oil pressure woes, pressure is dropping at WOT now..

Maybe I should be calling the engine builder, finding exact clearances, and talking to him about the pressure issue huh? Maybe I shouldn't even have an HV pump in there?

I'd be happy with my stock oil pressure back lol

Might be a GOOD idea. He is the only one to know.
