un-tuned cam only record?

I have the comp xe230/236 cam and finally dyno'd her after 1.5 years of having it cammed. she put down 357hp and 364 tq! This was WAYYYY rich too, so rich it went off of the graph and i cant tell how rich it went. Also, i still have the stock rev limiter at 5800, and from what I've seen this cam pulls till 6300-6400 rpm, so who knows what i'll dyno after taking off the rev limiter and getting her tuned. lovin' my cam! Does anyone know what the highest stock tune cam only car has pulled? and again, the highest tuned cam only car?

Wow,

What have you done to your car?

That's amazing if your pulling those numbers... without even reaching the peak RPM's of that Cam.. I hope mine does just as well.

Dyno #'s don't mean a whole lot..especially if the #s are uncorrected. Don't mean to flame you or anything, but I'd rather see some track #'s

Can you post the graph anyways?

1. Is it sae or std? They look like STD #'s which dont mean anything.

2. I doubt you have more in the car as far as rpm goes. With fully ported LE2 heads and that cam peak power was at 6000rpm, and with home ported LT1 heads and that cam I had peak at 5900rpm (this was before the LE heads). You could gain power fo sure by running 12.5:1 A/F.

Re: un-tuned cam only record?

I havnt gotten any track numbers yet with this setup, For the WHOLE time i've had this cam, I had defective comp "r" lifters, and i jsut recently changed them out with my stock lifters. New track times are on their way, but with my 3 defective "r" lifters the best i pulled was 106mph. dyno graph on the way

Re: un-tuned cam only record?

Why would you run a stock tune for 1.5 years on a cam that size? My Hotcam ran like crap for the crap for the week I had a stock tune. A mail order tune is very cheep.

Re: un-tuned cam only record?

106 mph is what about 315-320 rwhp. I really fon't see an additional 37 rwhp from changing out the rockers, so I would guess you are still amking around 330-340 rwhp corrected, which is still good especially when its not tuned.

# of my lifters were collapsed/didnt compress the way the other lifters worked, I'm sure everyone has seen the sticky at the top of the forum, once i did i pulled the intake mani and checked em out and put the stock ones back in. I'll try to get track times soon, but I really wanted to wait until i get some new suspension, mine gives the car soo much body roll

With LE2 heads and the XE230/236 on a 114LSA I put own 368rwhp/336rwtq with an A/F below 10:1. I leaned it out to 12.5 and got 383rwhp/353rwtq. When I went to the track I was in the 368rwhp/336rwtq trim, so I only ran a 8.2 @ 90mph ....stayed in it......12.5@114mph w/2.07 60'.

The extra power and tq from leaning it out would have been substantial. I picked up 30+rwtq from 2400-3000rpm on the dyno and I didnt play with timing (I had a little KR). I suspect trap speeds would have been 116-117mph if I was in the 383rwhp tune.

Re: un-tuned cam only record?

To just say "if your results are in STD so it means nothing" is not true.

SAE and STD are simply correction factors. Your STD #'s can be compared to anyone else's STD #'s because you both have the same correction.

It is the UNCORRECTED #'s that should not be compared.

More importantly...was brand was the dyno?

?? As far as I know, STD means no correction factor for temp, humidity, etc. Thats why us New England guys can run some big STD numbers in the winter Then we lose like 50rwhp when it is corrected for SAE.
