Vacuum lines, rubber elbows, and age.....
All,
This is more of an FYI than anything.....
My engine has 97,XXX miles on it and is 12 years old. In pulling the engine for my CC503 swap, I have found rubber elbows crumbling, not sealing, and just in general disarray. Now, the kicker to all this, is that you can't see some of this...many of the bad spots are in the 90* on the back side.
IMHO, any type of crumbling part linked up with the manifold is a bad thing. It sets up for unmetered air to enter the system. Now, this is not always the case, but in general, cracked and worn out rubber parts are not good.
Just something to keep in mind as these things age.

I got all the hoses successfully from GM. The only one I'm having trouble with is the heater core hoses....of all things.....on national back order until October!!

From where, a dealership? Only one I need is the one that goes into the passenger side of the throttle body, or as far as I can see at least. I know it isn't causing my misfire, but it's something I should replace I've been putting off trying to find. I haven't even started throwing parts at this car yet to fix the problem.

Shipping is more reasonable than from gmpartsdirect.com. They were charging $45 to ship a $5 hose.... It was the "S" hose in my second pic above....I think you can see the rip off in that shipping charge.
Right click and view image if you can't see the third line....

With the age of these cars...
and the fact that so many of us keep them on the road for a long time (with rebuilds, good maintenance, etc.), we are all likely in need of replacing the whole set of rubber hoses.
It would make a lot of sense to lobby some quality aftermarket supplier to make and sell a top-end rubber hose kit. Going to the dealership to be raped by increments for parts that are often worth about $2.00 each is just crazy. Never mind the hassle of tracking them all down individually.
Anyone know a supplier that could stand a friendly nudge to start making such a kit?
