valve adjustment LT4 1.6 rocker Questions
The engines on a stand.... According to the instructions it stats to rotate the crank until the exhaust push rod begins to rise in order to adjust the intake valve. Then spin the nut until it is set at 0 lash. Then give it another 1/2 turn. My question is how would I know im at 0 lash? Would I have to stop once I feel resistance or when it no longer spins? No lifter preload means when the push rod doesn't move up and down? After adjustment they say to torque the set screw from 15-20ft LB. Now would that be Allen in the middle???? My main concern Is the setting valve lash...

Re: valve adjustment LT4 1.6 rocker Questions
There is a detailed procedure for setting the valve lash on my Tech Page. The first question, though, is do you have the original equipment LT4 rockers and 10mm studs? The studs are shouldered at the top and all you do is tighten the rockers down. There is no adjustment for lash.

No, its a regular lt1 with lt1 studs. It checked out your page and I adjusted the valves today. After I adjusted them I noticed with both valves closed there is some very small play on the rocker is you move it side to side. No up and down play. Is that right? Want to make sure I got them the right adjustment....

Side to side play is not valid as a judge of correct adjustment. If you adjusted them correctly, according to any of the procedures, you should be ok.
