I am looking to finish a build of my car and will be running ported stock heads with PAC beehives and comp 1.6 3/8 pro mag rockers. I am trying to figure out if I need new valve covers to run this setup. And if I do does anyone know of something besides the canton valve covers?

The 1.6 ratio rocker will fit under the stock covers...with some minor mods. Some have to clip the support ribs on the hold down bolts tubes. I didn't have to do that on mine. Almost all have to slightly crush the oil separator at the back of the passenger side cover. A quick squeeze with some pliers usually does the trick...

pro mags are probably going to take some modding of the stock valve cover to fit.

It's the width of the Pro Mags, not the height that require modification. Narrow body rockers fit without modding.

Does that mean grinding all the baffles? I read somewhere the poly locks are also a height issue. I've also read the Cantons are problematic with the pro mags.

There used to be some pics of the modifications needed. The poly lock height is not an issue.

My CC 1.6 RRs tapped on my Cantons, all I had to do was loosen the valve cover bolts a bit and that was enough to completely clearance the rockers. Cantons are my favorite engine appearance mod yet, I would recommend them to anyone.

I am just going to grind and save as much material as possible. I like the Cantons, but they don't work with the look of my car or my budget. Thanks everyone who helped.

That doesn't sit too well with me. For almost $200 for those Cantons you shouldn't have had to do that IMO.

Was looking for an aftermarket valve cover and stumbled onto this thread. Was looking for a nice set of black high covers to clear the pro mag ultra's. I'm not impressed with anything so far so I'll just mod the stockers and save the coin for a functional mod.

Proform 141-131 are a nice piece. A slight alt mod is required.

Problem is they say "Chevy" on them. Mine's a Pontiac. They do look nice though.

Well this is really irrelevant since I already have the car back together and running. I just ran the stock covers and ground out part of the bracing. The metal was so thin i could use tin snips. The baffle was punched out and I had to create a smaller one that is held in with a rivet. Thanks though!
