valvetrain help, asap, a quick question, **

le1 heads/joe o cam, the whole works
put in comp r lifters and comp 1.6 rockers. we adjusted the rockers to 1 full turn past zero lash. wasn't putting down the numbers it should and i posted in here a while back and was told to go in between 1/16th-1/8th/ or 1/4th past zero lash. so i backed them off 3/4 turn today, so they should be set at 1/4 past zero lash.

obviously the valvetrain was a little more noisy that a stock car (after the head/cam install), but now it sounds louder than it was before we adjusted them to 1/4 today., like they are too loose. is this common or is this a problem? i need help soon because i don't want to mess it up , to much $$ involved in it.

also, i personally haven't heard the car after adjusting them, my dad did.
he's been an ase certified tech for 25 years.

Did you just back them off?

Try setting them to 1/4 turn past zero lash instead (Back them off completely and then adjust).

I'm running my Comp R's at 1/8 past zero lash.

As has been said many times in many threads regarding the Rs,
my lash is 1/8 turn (adjusted cold) past zero with 7/16" studs.

The car seems to run just fine. I'll have dyno info to post after
the 29th.

Try resetting the lash to 1/8 past then maybe 1/16 or so past that if it's still really noisy. I wouldn't go past 1/4 or you'll probably start bending pushrods, but in worst case I'd rather be slightly too tight then too loose. Better to bend a pushrod then to drop a valve.
