well, heres an update:

i changed the opti. i could tell that it cleared my misfire and helped some but the same problem is still there. my last guess are fuel. i dunno if it would be the injectors, reg, or pump. i checked the reg as someone suggested and its NOT dumping fuel into the intake through the vacuum line. i dunno if this would conclude the reg is working fine or not.

sometimes it starts funny and will take longer or will feel like bogged down when just started. i have an oil leak that might be from the back of the intake but i dont think that would be the problem. im gonna get it up this weekend and see where it is coming from. this is a royal PITA but im learning a ton about my car that i would never have learned.

can anyone add anything?

now that i think of it, after i did the seafoam, i did notice an increase in torque at 45mph and higher. hmmm. that would lean me towards injectors but im still unsure. that and the starting issue.

i took the car out for a little diagnostic drive on the highway. it feels like it is going to completely max out at 110. i also thought that maybe it could be the egr valve but would it really cause this much trouble? i also thought knock sensor but im not sure. i still think its fuel related because of the occasional start up issue. is there any way i could narrow it down more?

Thanks

Don't rely on the cars computer to tell you what's wrong. I have a 93 LT1 as well and I NEVER get codes, lol. And I know stuff is wrong. I have a gutted catalytic converter and I've never tripped my SES light. Check EVERYTHING. Just go on down the list and don't stop. It's also a good idea to check your Catalytic converter. In my automotive class we had a 94 Trans Am that had similar problems. He couldn't accelerate very fast, his RPMs acted funny, lost a crap load in gas mileage. We tried everything and he never fixed it and he just gave up and left. The next week he wanted to gut his cat to make his exhaust sound better and once we did that it fixed everything right up. All the honeycomb on the inside was pitch black and looked almost burnt.

thanks for the reply.

these 93's sure are stubborn with codes, lol. im trying to go right down the line. there really isnt any other way to check the cat other than cutting it from the pipe huh? when you gutted it, did you just weld up another piece of pipe to replace empty spot?

thanks again

No, there are no welds required if you just want to gut it. Look under your car at the cat and at the rear of the cat there are 4 bolts. Just unbolt them and push the Intermediate pipe out of the way and you can see inside your cat. Look inside with a flashlight and you'll see all that honeycomb filler.

If you are interested in gutting your cat, you're going to need a few things.

- 2 foot prybar (The one I used was 3/4 in thick and 2 ft long)

- Hammer

- Misc. sized wrenches

First Unbolt the four bolts on the rear side of the cat and push the I-Pipe out of the way. Then place your prybar on the honeycomb filler and just hit the living crap out of it w/ the hammer. Keep wallowing out the honeycomb until you can hear a lot of crunching then get in the car, start it and gas it a bit to shoot out the broken up pieces. Make sure you don't let it run for long, it may get hot. Then go back and look w/ a flashlight and locate where to break it up next. Keep doing this until you can't see a single piece left inside. Then just bolt her back together and there ya go. All done.

if your fuel system is good and in the clear start checking the delivery system

plugs and wires if not already done

MAP only thing that gives your car a direct reading to run off if falty car runs like butthole

TPS could be off giving a false reading and cauesing the ramdom idle

didnt see a mention of either of these

ps if your cat is cloged there is something else wrong most likely fuel dilivery
