Washing my engine
#2
I have never "washed" my engine.
You just need to get some cleaning supplies and use some elbow grease, removing a part here and there will help to reach some spots.
I get alot of compliments on how clean my engine compartment is and cleaning it by hand is all I do.

If its really dirty I suggest some simple green to get all the dirt off.
Once you have it basically clean then I use a basic armor all type product (whichever is your fave, I use Mothers or Meguires) to wipe everything down.
If you want your rubber parts to look good then use some tire shine, just spray it on a rag to avoid overspray and wipe down your hoses, intake elbow, things like that.
The key I think is to keep up on it, don,t go too long without spritzing it up and you won,t have a long cleaning time ahead of you.

I have washed my engine lots of times and never had a problem. I guess I am lucky. I just want a clean looking engine bay. I dont sit there with the hose over the opti but I do rinse it good. Nice and clean and no problems.
