Well I've decided to come on here and ask for some help since this seemed rather odd to me.

First the car is a 96 TA with a built 355 in it. The engine only has about 6k miles on it and it's having this problem. Rest of the car has about 109k on it.


The day it happened it started fine. When i was driving it just shut off, all at once, no slowly dieing or anything. Pulled over and tried to start it and it wasn't firing at all. After about 15 min i tried again and it would sound like one cylinder was firing a few times then i start giving it gas and then it sounded like 2 cylinders started then 3 and finally it started real rough.

fast forward a day it ran fine then the problem started all over again. The exact same. I noticed a lot of white smoke coming out the back till it starts then it all goes away.

Now while it wouldnt start i checked and pressured on the fuel valve in the back and fuel shot out, turned it over again and checked it again so it has pressure and then i checked for spark at the coil and spark plug and it was both there. After i put the wire back on it started.

I plan on doing a proper fuel check tomorrow but wanted some other input. I'm guessing either the fuel pump, coil, or opti is working just whenever it wants to but i think i have to check it in the act before it starts working again. The opti is rather new and the coil is also. Both changed about a year ago.
I pulled 1 plug on both sides and it was rather black coated.

So what do yall think? Anyone else have this problem or mind giving me some input or advice.
