Weird Things Happening All at Once

Hey everyone.

Up until now, Ive had no problems with my LT1.. Now its seems like everything has happened all at once.. Literally the same week.

To begin with my engine has been stumbling under acceleration. Next, my water pump went out. Replace the water pump and its dumping antifreeze. Also the water pump is making a slight whirling out, almost like a quite supercharger.. After dumping antifreeze its burning and dumping oil. I used about a quart of oil in one day.. There is also oil residue on the back of my car, so dark you couldnt see the license plate. Last, my power steering in acting up. Sounds like there is no fluid, but there is. It jerks when turning, almost like the power steering goes out for a second and then kicks back in.

Anyone think all of this is related?

Also, I forgot.. The Low Coolant light comes on, even when I just fill up the cool.. Also the service engine soon light has popped on a few times, but never stayed for more than a day.

Sounds like you have your work cut out for you. Water pump might have leaked on your opti, causing your stumbling. Burning a quart of oil a day is definately a serious problem. If its coming out your exhaust it means it's getting in your combustion chamber, maybe worn piston rings. How's your oil pressure? Also, from the sound of it, it might be time for a new power steering pump. Good luck.

burning oil and loosing water sounds like a broken head gasket to me...

but thats about all i know... change you oil and see if its milky if it is... thats a sure sign the two are being mixed together

Oil pressue stays pretty normal, but is a lower at idle than I remember.. I dont know the exact number, but I'll find out next time I go drive.

I am going to take it to Pontiac tomorrow to get it diagnosed. If its a whole bunch of stuff going wrong, then now would be the time to do the mods (heads, cam, etc...) along with fixing what needs to be fixed.

NewbieWar, would you have a serious power loss with blown head gasket? I mean the car would run like complete crap, right?

My car did the exact same thing right after I bought it. I got the opti, water pump, and the power steering pump done at the same time. The car had about 75K on it at the time. Good luck
