What after market gauges you run?
#6
U want the mechanical oil temp gauge, works great from what I have seen in Limiteded1Le's car.
I have the Autometer Mechanical Water Temp gauge (Carbon Fiber) and the Autometer Air Fuel ratio.
I plan on in the future going with the Autometer Mechanical Tranny temp and Electrical Fuel Pressure gauge.
U can get them at pretty good prices at Summit Racing. U can also go to www.ls1speed.com

Go to the AutoMeter website and select the gauge/style that you want. Then take that part #, and go to the Summit or JEG's website, and enter the part # (preceeded by the vendor code) and it will tell you the price and availability.
I run:
A-pillar:
-electonic oil temp, - elctronic trans temp
Center A/C vents:
-electronic fuel pressure, -mechanical nitrous pressure, -mechanical oil pressure

Hey Injun ....going with the two oil temps in the pillar also. Are they hard to hook up what does it take to do it. No large cables or nothing for the electronic right? How did you route them? Sorry bout all the questions but I wanna do it right.

You can use the block plug above the oil filter if you have a '94+. You'll need a 1/4->1/8" NPT adapter for the sender. Then you can run the sender wire up through the shifter hole and under your dash up to the gauge.
There is a ground behind the driver's kick panel and you can use the empty ignition hole with a spade connector on the panel on the side of the dash.
For the lights, I suggest using an "Add-a-Curcuit" fuse adapter that you can get at AutoZone. It will replace the dimmer fuse, then you can attach the light power wire to it and get dimming lights on your gauge.
That should do it!

Tranny temp is easy with a 4L60 from what I understand... port on the passenger side of it. My TH400 is in the pan.
Oil temp... I use another approach. Drilled/tapped the oil pan drain:
Oil temp sensor
As long as you have a good ground on the sensor, you just need a single wire from the sensor to the gauge.
For power, I prefer to use the "switched" fuse protected +12V source already provided on the fuse block at the end of the dash. Its just a spade lug, in a small opening marked "IGN", and its protected by the fuse right above it. You need to crimp on a matching spade connector and push it over the lug to connect the wire:
Fuse panel connection

Hey Injun..... I know you didn't take those pics just for me. If you did them damn dude, thanks. I knew you helped guys out a lot but geeze. hahahah.
O yeah. When you hook it up to the fuse box like that, did you have to run a toggle switch or something to turn it off and on?
Also I like the hook up for the oil sensor but I dont get it. You drilled all the way though the oil pan bolt?????
I LOVE it but I'm really
thanks...........
