Question What is the best motor and drivetrain set up

I have a 93 Z28 that is pretty well stock and i am wanting to go into at least the 11 and was thinking about building a 396 stroker but dont really know what setup is the best and also what tranny and rearend would be best. Right now i have the stock non electronic overdrive tranny and stock rearend so i know then need to be changed also. My main goal is to have one wicked street/strip car. Any advice on motor setups, trannys, rearends or anything else would be greatly appreciated.

Well that is a pretty wide area your talking about. Maybe narrow it down for us. Do you want to stay n/a, FI, n2o, etc? What budget are you looking at? etc

But a general buildup post should be made, in this case since you have a 93, in LT1 Tech.

if you stay auto then you can keep the stock ten bolt, and be fine, ive heard of a few runnign tens on slicks even. you can get yoru auto beefed up, put on a TA girdle and be fine. as for your motor, well like stated you want blower, na, or nitrous. you can run 11s on your stock bottom end and be fine. many run a 100 shot along with a heads and cam package and get into the 11s easily. whats your budget?

I would like to keep it n/a but have the option of nitrous and there really isnt a limit on my budget because i know its going to take me a long time complete the project but i would just like to know what kind of setups have shown good potential and what kind of things diffrent people recomended so i could get several diffrent ideas.
