what bolts to replace when rebuilding a motor

I know head bolts have to be replaced, and I'm assuming the bolts for the main need to be as well but I dont know, figured on replacing them anyways "just because"

so does anything else have to be replaced, anything recommended, I've reused intake, timing cover, header, oil pan bellhousing, etc a dozen times or more without problems

After dropping a valve and putting a hole in #7 piston I rebuilt my LT1 with stock rods forged pistons and forged crank using ARP head bolts, main caps and main bolts. If you are having the rotating assembly done it is advisable to have it internally balanced. It will save problems down the road. Good luck.

How about throwing out some ARP part numbers for head, main and rods that people bought and used? I assume the correct ARP set for the mains must have the studs for the windage tray.

Replace all of the bolts. They stretch when they are torqued down and they start to crystalize when repeatedlly heated. Not a good idea to reuse them.

Are ARP head bolts torked to yeild? What I mean is the stock head bolts can only be torked once, you can't reuse them. If I put ARP head bolts on then take my heads off later when I have $ to do head work will I need new head bolts?

I believe that the ARP ones can be reused. I think torque to yeild was just something to sell more head bolts
I'm using ARP rod bolts, main studs, oil pump stud, and i'm also using them on items such as the oil pump drive gear bolt (they don't sell them specifically for this application, but I used some old one I had laying around). I did buy the regular stud main kit as i'm not running a windage tray. The regular ones will work, but it's kind of shadey to get a windage tray from an lt-1 on there properly.
As far as intake etc, they would be ok to use over. Anything rotating or internal, I would replace.
I did change all of my intake bolts over to Allen head, makes removing things much easier....

Make sure to change the oil pump also !

EDIT : I also would use a hardened ARP oil pump shaft.

I have a windage tray in my lt-1. Will this bolt kit work? Thanks for all the help.
