I'm using a USB AKM cable myself, and it works flawlessly. My car's a '97, with a PCMsForLess OBDI conversion PCM. In terms of cable needs, it's just like a '95 - OBDI PCM with OBDII-style ALDL connector.
If your OBDI conversion PCM was done by PCMsForLess or MadZ28, the '95 cable will work for you.

Glad to see they are making USB cables now, when I got my AKM cable all they came in was the R232 plug and I had to buy a USB adapter also.
