What do you guys think?

I have the chance to buy a 95 lt1 motor with supposedly about 40000mi on it. the guy use to work at a chevy dealer and bought the motor from them after it wasw pulled from a car with a supposed dead cylinder. they say they put a new motor in car and it did the same thing and ended up being the harness. sounds kinda fishy to me but I can get the motor for 625 minus the alternator and coil. Does this sound like its to good to be true? i ask because most deals i think i am getting usually turn around and bite me in the azz......

See if he'll let you pull the heads off and visually inspect the engine. If not, 625 with everything on it isn't a bad deal, and if it needs work go ahead and do it anyway. There's no sense in putting another engine in that has wear on it unless you desperately need the car. This way, you can go with the LT4 setup, increase compression (if wanted), and do a lot of stuff to it.
