they do 100% collect metal dust particals. however being on a race track there have been times when someone was running something lik this and they have came loose or moved around in off track incidents and the though is that all of a sudden you have 100 times more crap in the oil of trans fluid. So i play it safe and do what god and mister gm intended and just use filters. On a street car i would think it would definately help. Catch it on a magnet or in a filter 6 of one half dozen of the other

I was lookin at the one they have for the oil filter,i wonder what Patman would think of this?

If you have steel in your engine, the stuff that will stick to this,you need more than a filter magnet,you need a rebuild.
The common types of metal found in an engine from wear won't stick to a magnet.
