What do you need for a lot of top-end ?
Just curious and trying to learn here, but what kind of things do you need to do to get that top end power of an LS1? How about much better than an LS1?
I love low end torque as much as anyone else, but its fun going fast in 4th, 5th, and 6th too! Especially since I uprgaded from an auto L98 to a M6 LT1

simple example might be...stage 3 heads roller rockers cam such as gm 847 or cc306 hardened puchrods aftermarket timing chain, ported intake, bigger throttle body, pcm work,ignition.. pretty much it depends on what you want to do and how big your pocket is. horsepower cost money!! just think as your engine as a huge air pump. the more volume it can flow the more top end you will get. you combo depends all on what you trying to do.

Head work ... And lots of it. LSX>LTX head design. Really thats the only major thing going for an LSX motor is their heads are superior in every way. Although thats not to say that AI heads, or something of the sort cant be jsut as good. Theyre an 18* head I think on an LSX?

LS1 is 15* headed
LT1 23* headed, night and day difference between them. the lower the numerical angle the straighter the airflow the more power potential
to move hard on the topend you need airflow and the fuel to back it up (it is that simple)! very free flowing heads (or boost ) a well thought out camshaft to control the incoming air and the valvetrain to back up the rpm
getting the air in and getting it out as quick as possible and unrestircted as possible (with good direction) is key

i was thinking the same thing lately, as i got alot of grunt down low! i would like for the same power up top! so i get exactly what he is saying, and i think the first step is longtubes. then i get heads that are better then ls1's and there u go, hopefully u will be better up top now.
