I'm thinking of getting I real nice set of headers, but I'm not sure which ones to go with. I drive my car on a regular basis.. and I don't take it to the track.. but I do sometimes drive it hard, so I'm looking for some nice performance ones and some good hp increase.. what do you gusy recommend? Do it the Hooker LTs are the best header out there in my opinion.

It depends on whether you have to pass smog or not. If you can't run long tubes I would recommend the ASM Shorties (Expensive $750) or the SLP. Longtubes would be Hooker.

i have been told the flp's are the best power producing headers. however, the price tag is hefty.

I love my Hooker LT's but if I had the spare cash laying around I would definitely go with the FLP's.

Agreed! Except for the SLP part hehe.

If you dont take emmisions, then get LT's.
If u do, AS&M are good, but pricey. Mac headers seem to be well worth the price.

I love my AS&M's. Don't have to worry about ground clearance like the long tubes either.

AS@M headers are mid length not shortys.

Hooker LT's are great, but like mentioned, do not have air fittings and you might need to worry about ground clearance if you lowered yor can any..

RK Sport headers are almost indentical to AS@M but you can pick them up for around 140 bucks less.

All three are great headers.

SLP headers are good for the money cause they are 1 3/4 but the y-pipe is a little cheesy.

MAC headers are only 1 5/8 but are a good price.

It all depends on what you want. If you are planning mods inthe future like heads and cam, I would go with a 1 3/4 primary set of headers.

Thanks guys for all the responses.. I do have emmisions here.. but I'm not to sure how strick they are. If I don't lower my car at all (which I'm not planning on doing) are hooker LT a definate on not passing emmisions? Or is it kinda just boarderlining? I would really like to go with the best I can get... I'll look into the other headers.. thanks again Oh and for the hooker LT clearance problem.. did you take into account that it's an SS and came something like 1/4inch or whatever lower by SLP?

Technically they will fail inspection Hookers.. due to no AIR fittings. But most places do not look under the hood. With that said, you can pass emmisions easily with no air pump. You would need to buy the hooker LTs with O2 sensor bungs welded into them.. Make sure if you buy them that they come with O2 bungs..hooker LTs do not come with a y-pipe, and you will need to find one that will work with your car.

Oh.. so that power package that I posted ealier doesn't come with the O2 bungs.. that sucks.. does anyone know of any place to buy Hookers with the bungs? Or anywhere that sells maybe the FLP headers? I think maybe going with the flp ones would be better..

You might check out the Group Purchses forum. Jet Hot is selling LTs with the O2 sensor bungs AND the AIR tubes installed for $488 + $25 s+h. That's about comparable with shorties, and they are emissions compatible. The only catch is they don't come with a y-pipe, and I don't know of anyone that makes a decent one. I think Mufflex has one, but I haven't seen anyone that likes it. Even with that added cost though, you would come out cheaper than buying FLPs. The really nice thing about FLP though is they have quick disconnect clamps so you can swap the cats for straight pipes or turnouts.
