Yes this kit fits AS IS...

I believe Lloyd uses them for his LE1 heads..

Cool, I was under the impression that we couldn't run a dual spring without machining the seat.

I have a brand new set of comp 978 dual valve springs. I've had them for a couple years, I got beehives instead.

I paid $130 for them, I only want $55 shipped. These springs are more than enough for the 306, but will require a set of Comp I.D locators, no machining required. That's according to the guy at comp cams.

Do you have any experience with any of their dual springs?
Hell if Comp's answer isn't satisfying then go to any spring manufacturer's website and look at comparable springs. Not all that difficult.

The 10308 Kit is working very well with my CC306. I like them over the 918 types.

Sorry to hear about your earlier 918 problem. I could see why you wouldn't want to run a beehive again. It wasn't a design problem though, it was a manufacturing problem with comps new supplier.

We still have the original reliable 918 (now PAC-1218) and an even better version (PAC-1518) that will probably last longer than the rest of your motor.

We also have the original 921 dual too. Now we call it the PAC-1221 and it's an awesome springs.

I joined PAC just when the Racing division broke ties with Comp and started selling springs under its own name. Since I've joined I haven't seen/heard of one 1218/1518 beehive failure. I run the valvetrain dynamics lab so if there was a failure, I'd know about it too.

I plan on getting PAC 1518s when i do my cam swap. I will NOT use a comp spring after the horror stories ive read here.

Do you have a retainer for the PAC-1221 that will work with our LT1 valves?

One thing to watch out for is if you use the Crane Gold Race 1.6 SA Rockers with the Crane 10308 spring kit - the retainers are large and can rub and gall the bottom of the rocker arms because there's not enough clearance. A bunch of people ran into this a long time ago and there was a lot of bitching cause the same company made both parts and they seemed marginally compatible due to the clearance problems. On my setup, I had one or two that had rubbed a spot on the under side of the rocker.

I ended up using the GMP 1.6 rockers. Everything cleared with plenty to spare!
