what is harder on the timing chain...
anyone know what is harder on the timing chain - the higher rpm you run w/ a 306 cam or the steeper lobe angles of a ex230/236 cam?

My vote= steeper lobe angles.
To me it seems the steeper rate would produce more tension on the chain. Higher revving could also be problematic but that's common on just about everything in the engine...

that's kind of what i was thinking... steeper lobes = more shock... and shock is what usually does the damage.
i'm trying to decide between the two cams, and i'd really rather not have to buy the vented opti and ed timing set, and just put a new stock set on. got enough stuff(cam, lifters, gaskets, injectors.. etc) and my car only has 25k miles on it and the opti non-vented opti i have only has about 1k miles on it, so i hate to waste it.
