What Head Gaskets Are You Guys Using??
I need a good LT1 head gasket for high horsepower applications with a very large shot of nitrous. I have been using the cometic and have not had good luck with them sealing properly. What are the options for another gasket?
Thanks

Re: What Head Gaskets Are You Guys Using??
Have to determine the reasons for the head gasket failure before trying something else. The guys at Cometic would be more than interested in examining the gasket to determine "why" it failed. If you need a contact, let me know and I can put you in touch.
I don't think it's the gasket. I know guys running their MLS gaskets in 1200hp+ nitrous engines with success, so I'm guessing other problems.

Gaskets look perfect......block surface looks perfect as well as the head surface. Used ARP studs...torque to 65 ft lbs in correct sequence. I have been reading up on others with problems and it seems like it might be the RA of the surface area...or machining grooves on the block. Paul at Thunder Racing does not use Cometic anymore because of this type of problem. Just looking for an answer. I would like another alternative than the Cometic or Felpro but havent found one yet.

Mr. Gasket makes 2 different LT1 head gaskets, the .026" (i use, i like. altho i'm not stressing it as much as your application) and one that is .059 or .049 or something along those lines, dont remember the thicker # off hand
