What the heck? Oil pressure drop on easy stop?
Well last night on the way home as I was coming moderately to a stop I noticed my check guages light come on. I noticed the oil pressure dipped and came back right away. Then I pulled into my complex and again as I was braking it repeated the dip in oil pressure and then it returned quickly. No knocking sounds though. Please tell me my NEW MOTOR isn't shot? This happened only twice to my knowledge and seemed to last a second or less. Didn't notice it under acceleration. Oil level is ok. I understand the pickup probably came out of the pump but does that neccesarily mean my motor is in the crapper? I had read somewhere that this required total bearing replacement. *sigh* Help me?

your pickup fell off.
add a quart for now
then drop the pan and have at it. its no fun
before you do it though...
jack one end of you car up high
then go bang on the pan with your fist
you'll hear it bouncing around
if that doesn't work-
drain the pan and knck. then your def gonna hear it.
other possibilites are that something is on the screen of the pickup.
your motor will be fine. no oil pressure for 1/2 a sec isn't as big of a deal most here will make it out to be. there is enough oil there to prevent you from spinning a rod
no oil pressure at 6000rpms might not be good

I think I'm going to let my friendly neighborhood GM dealer handle this one then. This motor was assembled by GM and bought as a longblock soooo.... they can deal with it under the 50k mile warranty. I was just worried my new motor was toast. (Hate to be out of a car forever)
