What The Hells Do I Do With This???

when i pulled my driveshaft via the 4 7/16ths bolts on the rear side of the shaft, a little flat thingy with 2 tiny directional bent arms, total about 1.5 - 2 inches long, and less than a half inch wide, fell out, i think i have a pretty good idea of where it goes on, (over that bowl shaped thingy in the middle of the end of the driveshaft, in between the two caps) question is, since those two tiny "arms" on that "thingy" are directional.... which way does it go on?!?!?!

i PRAY ANYONE knows what im talking about...

HELP PLEASE!

i don't want my ds to spin off because of a tiny little detail like that

EDIT: i have pics i can send by e-mail if that would help, they are kinda blurry but they get the point across

Are you talking about the things that look like this?___/---\___ ? The humped part goes over the round part yolk with the bolts holding each end into the pinon gear.

I dont think you will be even able to move your car out of the driveway without using them.

After removing the 4 bolts retaining the 2 u-joint clips, your rear axle pinion yoke should look exactly like the picture shown here.

Are you talking about u-joint bearing cap snap-ring retaining clips? Like this shown about half way down here?

It's a retainer that holds the bearing caps on when you remove the driveshaft. The long piece that goes between the caps goes on the inside (between the u-joint and the driveshaft). I am not sure that it is even necessary. Replacement u-joints don't have them.

As Shoebox said, it's a retainer for holding the two caps on the universal during assemably at the factory. It does not need to be replaced. It usually rust and falls off after a few years driving.
