What if you sealed the opti?

What if you sealed the opti?
Just curious. Let's say you're on your second opti (the old non-vented style) and you don't want to go through it again.
Before you install the new unit, you seal all seams, screws, terminal, vent holes (there are three on the bottom of a non-vented opti) with rtv sealant before putting it on.
Do you think this would be detrimental? If so, how?

Guess I didn't think of running a bead around the screw holes though.....
