What oil and oil filters do you guys use

Your exactly right with the people who go way over with their oil change, even after the change its still black...
Yes, i leave the plug out and flush about 1qt of oil through the whole system. Or until the oil comes out perfectly clean looking.

What I do is change it when it gets dark or every 2500 miles. Summer time in traffic is the worse. I drain it then lower the jack then let it sit for 15 min. Then take a quart of oil then it flush all the way down to the pan where all the old oil is. Or feel the oil from the dipstick if its slippery, not dark and dont doesnt feel gritty you have time. I fill the new oil filter with oil and oil the threads. Then lt it start for a second then stop. The start it again and let it run to normal temp then shut it off.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I'm considering putting Mobil 1 0W-40 into my Z, or maybe German Castrol(0W-30). I believe the spec calls for a 30 weight and I was curious whether it would be a bad/good idea to use a 40W on a higher mileage, ~100K, engine. Supposedly, the M1 0W-40 shears down closer a 30 weight pretty quickly.
I also got some Amsoil EaO59 filters. That is their PF454 equivalent. From what I hear, those EaO filters are the best currently available. I think they are manufactured for Amsoil by WIX using a Donaldson synthetic filtering media, but don't quote me on that.

I just started using M1 0w-40,since i cant find GC.You should have no problem using M1-0-40.The ONLY real way to know a given oil is right for your engine is to have UOA.For a few dollars go to www.blackstone-labs.com.

I've used Blackstone Labs on my Jeep.
German Castrol should be available at Auto Zone. It was taken off the shelves for awhile, but it seems to be back.

I bet more money is wasted on oil than any thing else people do to their cars. Unless it's an on the edge max effort race motor, use any name brand that's cheap and change it every 4-5,000 miles or so and forget it. Ditto for the filter.

The AC Delco are almost free, they are so cheap. I think I payed less then $5 at Autozone last time I picked a few up. Get 'em anywhere. If they use 'em on OEM GM engines with a 100K warranty, they must be ok.

A/C Delco 1218. I can't see how anyone w/ LT headers could use anything else (especially now running a Canton pan).
