What RPM with stock setup

Your limiting factor is your stock valvesprings. They usually float at about 5400 depending on how many miles your car has. Put some new springs with about 130# of pressure at the seat and you can go higher if the engine makes any power at higher rpm. At least you would be able to safely take it to 6K.

Re: What RPM with stock setup
Yea you are making peak power probably around 5200-5300 RPM's so shifting it it around 5500ish would make sense.
If you do some mroe mods though like headers and 1.6RR's then you could bump the RPM range up a bit. With good valve springs like 918 beehives or something like that, you could shift peak power up to around 5500-5600 and shift it at 5800-5900rpms ON your set up though, there is no reason to ever go past 5600RPM's
And in case you didnt know it yet from reading on here, the stock tach is slow by a couple hundred RPM's when you wind it out.
So basically, When you get to the red, you should be shifting. With some more mods, a hair past red and shift it.

Raise the rev limiter, no matter what gear we ran in the car is had a 6000RPM shift. and it turned over 6300 on the top end in 4th with 4.33s and ET Drags.
This was with the stock springs and the LT4s.

Re: What RPM with stock setup
Stock tach sucks. Shifting @ 6800 on mine means shifting past the 7 on the stock tach.
With an m6 I highly recommend the cheap summit shift light. I did not want a big ugly aftermarket tach on my dash. But the shift light in the corner is fine, and its cheap.

Stock, the redline is at just the right spot for shifts. Any mods you do to help the car breath (headers, exhaust, CAI) can raise the optimal shift point a few hundred RPM. My optimal shift point with my mods is 6000-6100.
