What to use to glue FELPRO valve cover gasket to VC

Got some chrome valve cover from ebay, cheap stuff but looks good. Had to clear them for 1.6 rockers. Now every time I check/adjust my valvetrain I spend more time putting the VC back on then adjusting rockers. It's just a major PITA to get that valve cover installed with FELPRO gasket. I tried using epoxy glue, two different brands (strong stuff), but it didn't work in both times. Had surfaces cleaned nicely, but the glue doesn’t stick to the rubber, and then I have to scrape it from the VC Anybody has better luck than me, and if you do, can you share on what you are using.

I've never had to do this but I would think if you were to clean the valve covers very good, and the gaskets, and then apply a thin coating of the black RTV on the cover, place the gasket over it, push it firmly in place, and then let it set up for a few hours, that should work.

I have red high temperature RTV sealer (used for intake), would it work instead of black?

I've never had a leak using the stock GM gasket's. Never used RTV on them either.

those aftermarket VC have a shorter surface that holds the gasket, and I already have FELPRO gasket, and I don't have a leak , just its a pain to get that gasket situated

Re: What to use to glue FELPRO valve cover gasket to VC

I had a set of TD performance tall valve covers on my old car. I got tired of it taking a while to get the rubber gasket not to move while installing the valve cover so i ended up doing what 94 Camaro Z28 suggested. Worked like a charm. Had no leaks and never had to mess with it again when i took my valve covers off.

The gaskets are silicone nothing is going to stick to them. Get some regular sbc cork gaskets and use 3M trim cement to hold them to the cover.

Wrong... I used "The Right Stuff" gasket maker and they are stuck for good

I just used 6 gobs, one on each corner (4), and two in the middles.

I have just always hated cork because of its tendency to leak under too much torque.

That ain't the corks fault and factory gaskets were cork for years.Works for me.
