Whats the best lt1

OK im going to be ptting in a lt1 and t56 in to my 69 chevelle and i want to know what is the best year motor and what are the diff. between the years. Also i thought the last year of the lt1 was 97 but in a lot of my parts books they say the last year was 96 lik ewhat the hell could some one please help.

'97 was the last year. Put an LT4 in the Chevelle.

most potential, as far as heads go, are of course the LT4's but the 93-95 aluminum LT1 heads are the next best...

some 96 vette's, a few '97 SS Camaro/Firehawks (I believe)
