What's the best Opti out there?
#16
My 96Z28 i have had no issues, and it has 66k on it....i know of others going 100k plus on the GM/delco opti. I put a new gm/delco on my 94Z with 396 stroker and good sized cam and 6.5k redline...the rotor screws backed out after 10k...new MSD cap and rotor, locktited screws and problem solved.
if your car is stock put a new gm delco opti...leave it alone
if modified with larger cam and higher red line..etc., at least loctite the rotor screws...
i agree the opti is a wear item, and you must understand its limitations.

I got a billet MSD opti after mine crapped itself after 140k and now it runs like a champ. I ran a 14.34 at 97 on saturday with a stock 95z, other than a madz28 tune.
