Whats needed for an cam install on an LT1?
What is needed to do a cam install on an LT1?? and what are some brand names of each part??
I know I need a cam, springs, pushrods, and a gasket set, is there anything else?
Thanks in advance,
Kevin C

Do some searching in this forum and you'll find what you need. You may need to be specific.
Comp cams and Felpro should have most everything you'll need. Call them and see what they recommend. You should probably decide what cam you want first, then everything else will depend mostly on that, and your budget. Good luck.

I'ts not a bad job, i put my comp 305 in myself. Crane has an LT1 kit that comes with springs shims retainers and locks for $150 its a good deal and its good to .600 lift. Once you remove the hood latch mechanism the cam just barely has clearence to make it out. this setup of cam and springs alone took five tenths off my 1/4 time and i picked up 6 mph. Send me a PM if you have any questions.

off the top of my head though (and im still looking for this info myself):
-cam
-rockers
-lifters(possibly reuse)
-timing chain, gears if youre going big
-springs
-retainers and locks (???)
-valve cover gaskets
-intake gasket
-timing gasket
-new fluids (oil for break-in, new coolant)
....im sure im missing about a dozen things.

Timing gears and chain should be changed as a set. If you're cam is big enough, you'll also need new injectors. Don't forget the tune, pushrods, guideplates, rocker studs and headers.
