Whats the safest way to turn the crankshaft??
If I'm trying to turn it to put each cylinder at TDC for some valvetrain work... I don't like the idea of using a breaker bar on the crank pulley bolts, I don't like stripping bolts, it's like nails on the chalkboard. Any other way to do it that's a little safer???

you dont need to put it in neutral when i pulled my motor and put it back in and had to turnt he crank it wasnt in neutral and it was easy, not hard to turn it but maybe its just my car i dont know, but thats how you do it.

I was thinking of taking the spark plugs out but damn that would be a biotch... damn SLP shorties. How do you put the socket in the middle of the crank? You are talking about using the bolt?? That will strip the threads very easily with a breaker bar. The compression is whats really killin it. Just to get the timing chain dots to align I had to put the car in gear and rock it back and forth until they aligned...

It shouldn't take near that much to turn the engine over, even with plugs in?

If using any bolts on the hub or pulley, just remember to go slowly. When you encounter resistance from compression, pause and the compression will bleed off. Then, it gets easier to turn again.
