Question What's up with my rear brakes?

This might be stupidity on my part but, I just replaced my rear brakes and now they seem to whine a little whenever I come to a complete stop. Not like a brake squeal, but like a supercharger whine. Brakes work great, but I'm worried about the noise. When I replaced them I just bought some cheap pads and turned the old rotors. I noticed that the pads came with shims, so I put them on the pads and put everything back together. Drove the car and now it makes the noise. You can also hear the pads rubbing against the rotors when I'm driving and not even pressing on the brakes. I think that it my be because of the shims. Should I probably just pull the shims off or what? Has this ever happened to anyone before? First time for me. I've done the brakes on F-bodies before, but I used the good brake pads and they didn't come with shims.

Let the pads wear in. Give them a week or so.

I thought that too. I really didn't want to take them apart again. So as long as I let the pads wear down a little they should be fine? They wont effect the rotors in a bad way right?
