when you droped your engine out the bottom

did you have the front of the car lifted at all? i am guessing that i should get the kmember as close to the ground as posable.

i am going to put a jack stand under the trans and on each side of the k member. Lower the weight of the car on to it then un-bolt the 3 bolts on each side of the k member (behind where the tires are)then just lift the fram off of the motor?

forgetting anything

PS: thanks for everyones help so far! I am sure i will need some more when putting the new one in!

When I did mine, I had the front of the car raised. I used two floor jacks for the k-member and one for the tranny. When everything was disconnected, I just lowered each one a bit at a time.

I'm sure you've already seen the pic, but here it is again.

The bottom of the front of my car was 3 feet off the ground, so I guess you can say the car was lifted. I left the wheels on like Ion did.

Wow Ion. Tight work space there. I'll never think bad about my lil garage again.

I do what you said. I put 2 wood blocks under the K-member, and one smaller jack on the trans. Let the k-member sit on the wood blocks and make sure there is enough room to slide a jack under the center front of the k-member later. and unbolt the cradle... Next jack each side of the car up evenly until it clears the engine and then some.. Set the jackstands then take the jack and put it in the center of the cradle, and rol it out

Luckily I had the whole car lifted . A lift makes this immensley easier. Not sure if it was posted, but there is pics of a guy that had ramps, wood, and jacks holding up the front of the car. Insane!

That's xxsaint69x's picture, but it was when he did longtubes, not engine swap.

Yea, my storage unit is pretty tight.
