Where to buy 96-97 data logging software?
I'm contemplating buying a jet dst tuner for my 1997 SS. What would be the best route for data logging software for 96-97 obd2 cars? I haven't been able to find anything solid in my Google searches. I have a windows 10 laptop if that helps.

Re: Where to buy 96-97 data logging software?
Problem with GM OBD-2 software is the fact that GM will not let anyone use their "advanced" diagnostic parameters unless they license them from GM. A license supposedly costs $50,000.
GaryDoug has a free data logging/scan software app, but it only includes the basic OBD-2 data, missing things like IAC counts, fuel correction cell, etc.

There is a program that can access full GM advanced parameters - ECM-PRO - but it requires an additional cost for the advanced access, and has to be used with the JET DST system = $$$. I've never used it, nor has anyone sent me a data log to review from that system:

Re: Where to buy 96-97 data logging software?
I have a copy of both DataMaster and TunerPro (both the free version & RT). Also have a tutorial for RT that was posted on LS1Tech (might still be there). Can't give you any specifics on what all they log or how good they are; I think I tried them out, but that was years ago. Injun prob. can comment more on that. I have a 94 and use GaryDoug's Scan9495.
If you want these, send me a link to your Dropbox and I'll upload 'em. Since I got them off the web, don't think that would violate any EULAs.

Dunno--that was ~10 yrs. ago. Seem to recall using something on my OBDII Jeep GCL, but I ended up getting a hand-held that did ABS and told me what to fix (wheel speed sensors). I took everything else off that laptop 'cept Scan9495.

A few years ago I bought ScanXL Pro with the GM enhanced parameters option. I don't see the cable that I got with it for sale on their site, so I would reach out to them before getting the software. I see a cable that they are selling on the site, but it seems to be CAN only. I would stay away from wireless......get a USB connection. I've got the wireless option with my setup and thus far I'm not impressed with how it works.

I think other cables can work with ScanXL Pro such as this one....

I think GaryDoug has some knowledge on ScanXL as I think he was on their forums at one point. Looks like Palmer shut them down....which does worry me on how the support would be now. I've got some info on ScanXL here in the latter part of the thread. Gary does comment on ScanXL PID speeds in this thread. I noticed that Autotap seemed faster and he speculated on what it might be doing to get the better data PID speeds.

ScanXL Pro with the GM enhanced parameters is not cheap, but it can do logging similar to LS software in the way it presents the data. The thing I'm not hot on is the slow PID data speeds for 96,97 f-body OBDII. Heck, OBDI f-body PCMs have some impressive PID speeds compared to to the OBDII hardware. However, I think the OBDII PID speeds should be fine for logging steady state tuning on the low end of the VE table. Just need to limit the PIDs to only what is necessary for the tuning.
Even after getting all the above, life stuff has kept me from getting this thing on a dyno and working with tuning. I still plan to do it...just not sure when.....

Re: Where to buy 96-97 data logging software?
Its why i switched over to a obd1 computer. Its easy to do and makes it much easier to tune. I may have another if you're interested and cant find one at your local yard.

Re: Where to buy 96-97 data logging software?
I can't do the odb1 swap since we have obd2 emissions testing in NH. There's always the 4x 411 pcm swap but I'm not sure if that will pass emissions either.

Re: Where to buy 96-97 data logging software?
So I just learned last night that you can buy the plcc32 sockets and flash chips for the ly1 pcm's. I haven't posted about this yet a d will start a new thread but had had pcm for less do my tune and I belive it messed .y tcm some how. I have a tcc 1864 and a shift solenoid a code that was not there before the tune. Tbe trans still shifts like normal and has lock up as well. I bought a spare pcm that was tuned for a 383 and cc503 with 36lb injectors and plugged that in yesterday a d wala I have no trans codes. I'm going to attempt to install the sockets and chips I already ordered in the bad pcm and refresh it after I get the tuner.

Re: Where to buy 96-97 data logging software?
Except in your newer post you indicate you now have a different trans code for a solenoid. What is the new numerical code?
Why do you want to socket the PCM?

Re: Where to buy 96-97 data logging software?
Yes I had 2 codes, the p1864 tcc selonid circuit and a p7053 shift selonid A circuit. When I run the car with my spare pcm it doesn't have any codes pop up
but the transfers to act normal. From my understanding if you socket the pcm you can easily swap out the flash chips if you accidentally brick the pcm during the flashing process. I figured if I have a problem when I get the jet I can change the chips and reload a base tune.
