The mechanic at gm told me not to put a 160.The car won,t reach operating temp and that's bad.I don,t know ,i was really set on installing one

You might not want to use it in the winter in Montreal, but summertime should be fine.

when having the 160 thermostat are the fans basically always on or what temp do they turn on at and does it add some power?

Changing the thermostat doesn't change the fan ON temps. You can read about the cooling system and thermostats here.

hi shoebox. i was curious, on nicks thread about the gm mechanic telling him that he could damage his engine, what was that mechanic talking about?

I got a 160 hyper...I like it...only "problem" are 5 minute warmups in cold weather (St. Louis Area).
