I tried driving like a schmoe in a Honda for a full tank (you know, egg under the accelerator thing, wasn't fun) It really didn't change much. One thing I did notice.

No ac, about 210 miles and one gallon left at fillup
A/C on I got about 190 miles and had 1 gallon left at fillup
After running AC on the previous tank, and no AC on the current I would get 230 with one gallon left. 245 with the car sputtering to the pump

I get about 70 miles before the needle gets to the full mark, then after that it gets to 125 at 3/4 mark, then 160ish when I get to half. After that I get to 185 at 1/4. then I get paranoid and find a gas station.
Thanks man! itll soon be owned by Bad A if he can get 36mpg at an average 85mph with his LT1

Filled up before I left and again about 3.5 hours in to the trip at 357miles and only put 10 gallons in the car. It was only a 420 miles trip so I could have made it on one tank, lol.
there is no way thats even possible thats the biggest bs ive ever heard, my car stock got 25 highway and 15-17 city, 35 is impossible, and especially at 100, an auto is at like 3000 rpm at 95, theres no way u got those numbers, recalc. and tell the truth

i would think heads and a mild cam make the engine more efficient not to mention the headers and a tune.

i got ~22-23 on the highway with about 10mi 100+mph and 30mi of city mixed in

i think my 275/315 zr1's 4.11's and crappy tune are hurting me a bit

6th gear @80mph=~2400rpm 100mph=3000rpm

i run out of gas way too often and when i go to fill it up it only holds about 15.5-15.75 (16 gallon tank) when the car just won't go so even running it dry isn't that accurate...sucks to know that there is still 1/2 gallon in there when the gas station is 2 blocks away and the car just don't go

When I drove Florida to NY my motor was still breaking in.
The first tank full I got about 17mpg. The second jumped to 23.
The 3rd tank is when I hit the mountains of VA, WV, PA I was running the motor really hard because I was breaking it in. (Lots of fun and still 21mpg).
In PA I had my car tuned by Bryan from PCM For Less. I went to his place and had it street tuned. Up till this point I was using a HyperTech programmer 3 with the power tune for the 160stat (I had the 180stat) It actually had enough timing to avoid cam surge at low rpms. After the tune, that is when I started to get 25-27MPG.
I changed the oil in NY and it ran like this ever since.
I sort of have a conservative cam with ported heads that flow well, and everything is matched up for the driving I do with the car. The cam produces alot of torque and helps with low rpm acceleration.
This is also a different motor. I had a factory dog.
During the rebuild process I had the block blue printed and checked to make sure it was a good block and everything was up to spec. The block was near perfect when it came to specs so it needed very little machining.
Set up is the key and some restaint on the right foot.
On long trips, having a steady foot also helps alot.

Yeah, I think not.
I wouldn't necessarily call it lying... more like delusions of grandeur that have stayed with you for all these years..... and for the record 35 MPG at 100+mph average with an LT1 is impossible...... check your math, filling procedures and speedometer calibration... you will find the fluff there.....

crap Sam. Now I REALLY feel like driving this car off a cliff.

Maybe I should give PCM4less a ring? The car runs strong, just seems to use more gas at idle than when I am driving in stop and go traffic. The header collector had a crack in it when the previous owner had it dyno tuned, so after I welded it up it still seems to smell rich at idle.
