who makes custom cams?
Im looking for a new cam as i need to replace my opti and would rather just do it now all together, i was thinking of getting a cc305 but ive heard the cc306 is better but not for a daily driver, i was wondering if anyone has any contact information on who makes custom cams and could make something in between a cc305 and cc306 and could tune aswell. i want it to be able to pass california emmissions, i heard a cc305 could get away with it but not the cc306 so the professioal advice from a custom cam maker would be great. thanks alot.

All of the cam manufacturers make "customs" in the sense that you can mix n' match from their catalog of lobes and have them ground on varying LSA's, etc. Comp, for example, has a three day turnaround on such "customs. There are also specialty grinders who can literally make you anything you want. Of course, there are limits to what can be done based on the dimensions of the core. But unless you really know exactly what you are doing, you might be best advised to stick with something you know will work. IOW, something others have used sucessfully. This may often be a "custom" rather than a catalog grind.
Anyway, keep in mind that professional advcie from a someone who knows cams will not be free. Most of the time, it will cost in the range of $100 (plus the cost of the cam) to have someone spec one out for you. My advice, since you need to pass Cali emissions, is to ask other Cali folks what works for them.
