My car is my daily driver as of about a month ago when I sold my camaro. I drive it about 100 miles a week sometimes more.
Motor
Internally stock LT1, headers, cold air, csr ewp, no ac/ps, madz28 tune, mallory 685, N2o.
Drivetrain
CPT built pro race 700R4, Yank SS 3600, stock mazda rear w/4.10's, all stock suspension except mazda trix camber adjusters, removed front sway bar.
Wheels/tires
Stock 2000 mustang GT wheels with 245 nittos on the rear and 225 nittos on front.
Interior
Momo steering wheel, water and tranny temp guage, few buttons for the nitrous, B&M hammer shifter under the stock consol.

Car is a 88 Rx7 TII

Best run to date is 11.04@124mph

No where the top, but not too bad for a daily driver.

It ends up as a weekend warrior.

I know I'm not the fastest, but after my heads/cam, I'm hoping to be mid 12's@110+ That's fast enough for me for a daily driver with stock driveability.

I like this comment...This is my point, the whole idea behind what we are doing is to enjoy our cars. I realize some folks are after a drag only car that runs crazy fast times, and they don't care about drivability, I totally respect that. However, the majority of those people out there still want to drive their cars, and they alot of times do Mod them to the point they no longer can drive them (poor drivability) or don't want to because of the hassel. I am wanting to get an understanding of how radical people have gotten with their LT1 powered cars, while still being able to drive them. The reason I say 5-10K per year is to weed out any trailer queens. So keep them coming....

Slicks can come off for the street, You can dial your timing back also if you need race gas at the track for the last few HP. All though I think THEBEAST is looking for cars that run premium. I'm not trying to argue with you, I just happen to like his question. I would think some cars with enough money and know how can be really quick and still be daily drivers. My personal quest is to run mid or high 11's with the mods in my sig., with a converter change. Then spray my way to mid or high 10s. Will the stock rotating assembly let me? Who knows, if it doesn't then I go forged and try for low 10s. LOL

as I recall LJ drove his pretty regularly, I could be wrong though

Brady had a twin turbo Z that he drove regularly. It was on the power tour. I seem to remember him mentioning the rear let go while he was taking his son to little league. Hell, i could be wrong again.

My car is slow as hell so I don't really have any right to be in this thread.

I also like this topic and his question.

Even if my car was fastest it wouldn't qualify to your standards because I choose not to drive it everyday. That's why I have a beater, 100+ miles back and forth to work. But you will see this grocery getter cruising around the neighborhood after work sometimes. The car is Modded with streetable in mind so if my beater and 300C were to blow up at the same time this car can be driven.

I posted in the LS1tech thread also, but here goes...and I know I'm one of the slowest...12 year old LPE 383 shortblock, LPE/E.B. porting LT1 castings, Joe O. 226/234 cam, Kooks stepped LTs, 3" TDs, stock fuel system w/ Accel 30lb injectors, Spohn bolt on suspension stuff, stock springs/shocks, Strange 12 bolt with 3.73s, Bogarts with 275 50 R15s...Power windows, power steering, A/C, etc...Times/weight in sig...always N/A on pump gas...driven everywhere around 5000 miles a year, gets 20 mpg highway...

Ran 10.98@126 when it was still a daily. 12-15k miles per year
View Video on FQuick
added adjustible shocks, bottle heater, purge, after retiring from daily

New times
11.31 @ 119 NA 93 octane
10.48 @ 130 150 shot w/5 gal 104 added
View Video on FQuick

currently installing dedicated fuel system so I can quit mixing race fuel in the main tank.....can run 116 in the dedicated and have octane on demand.

Car was a daily driver until about 1 1/2 years ago nothing major has changed since then.....can still drive it anywhere....currently drive it 3-5000 per year.

Last Oct I drove it from north of Austin to East of Waco (~100 miles one way) to race a Z06...finished the night undefeated and drove it back to Austin.

Car runs about 22-2500 rpm on the highway.

It was retired from daily duties due to accident risk and insurance not being able to cover replacement value...imagine asking an insurance company for over $30k for a 94 formula...at that time I was commuting into Austin every morning....1 hour to go 19 miles.

I don't even want to get into "what is a street car". And besides that ambiguity, there's the issue of track times v. street trim. Most people with fast cars change tires, up the boost, use the nitrous, use race gas, etc. at the track and have a different setup for the street. That said, mine runs very low 10's at 140+ and sees maybe 3,000m/y.

Oops missed that.

In that case... Awesome Ray!

Rich, good point about street trim. That's the beauty though; if you can drive it on the street with streetable manners, and then convert it to a track car without huge changes. Oh, and that is a fast street car.

My car was built with the intention of having a 500HP pump gas daily driver that would last 100,000 miles. It turned out closer to 600hp. I ended up selecting a smallish cam with lightly ported lt1 heads and just did a budget rebuild with forged dish pistons. The F1A procharger gives me 15psi and I'm running alcohol injection to help with the longevity of the engine. The powerband is from 1800 all the way to 6400 so it has turned out just the way I planned. It gets 17/26 mpg. I drive it more than 10,000 per year and spool it up about every trip to work. So far I have 25,000 miles on the motor. I have AC, an 80 amp stereo, windshield washer fluid and almost all the niceties of a street car.

My car is what it is in sig all the time except for slicks at the track. It looks like a POS and I like it that way. Doesnt have A/C but who cares when it idle's at a grand at a red light . It is always run on 93 only and thats all it has ever seen...and this was w/ FACTORY OVAL PORT heads.

Motor is outta the car now and is going through some "changes". Times to come..
