Why are GMs ACDelco plug wires so expensive?

My original 97Z28 plug wires have some visible arching and it is time to replace them.

Why are GMs ACDelco so expensive? Can anyone tell me if there is anything "special" about them -- do they resist heat better or something?

I am considering just going aftermarket, and the most common choice seems to be Taylor Spiro Pro 8mm, and I think the website says they are good to 600 degrees F ... Are these good for a stock motor. I do not need them to be routed over the top as I have the stock headers.

Any suggestions?

The wires were made differently beginning in 1996 to work with the new coil they began using the same year. I would bet that some of it has to do with RFI interference.
