Why was my accessory wheel red hot?

Why was my accessory wheel red hot?
LAst night i tried to start my car and its idle was fluxing a lot and it was making a lot of noise. I shut it off and i smelt burning. I let it cool off a little bit and tried it again this time i was watching. I ran it for about 15 seconds and smoke started pouring outside of the hood. I shut it off immediately and looked. One of the accessory wheels was red hot. What could be causing this, I didn't have a chance to look and just left the car there. Ill play with it when i get home. It was running a little weird yesterday but i have no clue why it turned red hot.
Ill make sure everythings aligned right and nothings rubbing but what else could it be.
Btw, it is the wheel directly underneath the alternator(what is this one responsible for?). I just changed the belt about 2k miles ago. Any ideas?

Because you touch yourself at night....
Indicate which pully was sticking in this picture. To me it sounds like your tensioner locked up. Not uncommon at all. Especially since you drive in it the snow/salt roads in Michigan.

Re: Why was my accessory wheel red hot?
I took a look at it and the tensioner seems to be operational (It behaves as it did and moves just fine).
The a/c wheel is the one turning red hot, what can i do to fix this? (Btw, is there supposed to be a bolt in the middle of that pulley because i dont have one there). If the clutches are stuck, how can i free them, also could it be an electrical/fuse problem (because i just jumped someones battery and noticed the problem right away).
What else can i try?

Re: Why was my accessory wheel red hot?
I played with it for a little while and noticed that when the a/c is off, it is just a little hard to start, but when i turn the a/c on, it starts to make tons of sparks on that pulley and turns red hot. I am able to spin it with my hand so i am not 100% sure its destroyed. How can i tell if i need a new unit or something else is wrong (Maybe its low on refridgerant).
Would i be able to change my compressor myself or is that something only a professional can do.

Bearings int he AC cluth are gone. You can keep the clutch from engaging by unplugging the compressor entirely. The PCM is programmed to occasionally engage the compressor to keep the bearings good (ironic in this situation i guess). So whent his happens you are experiencing the problem i'm guessing since you shouldn't be using the AC this time of year - unless you are running your deffogger which uses the compressor as well to remove moisture from the air.

Re: Why was my accessory wheel red hot?
Isn't if funny how once you fix one thing on these LT1's, something else totally unrelated goes and ****s up? Last August, my waterpump decided that it wanted to be replaced so I replaced it with a brand new AC Delco pump. Anyhow, after fixing it, I started my car up to make sure it wasn't going to overheat. No problems there, so before I was leaving (I was fixing it at a friends house), I decided to turn on my AC to cool off inside my car. Well about 2 minutes after I did that, smoke started billowing out from under my hood. I turned off my car to open my hood and look down to see my AC compressor spewing out smoke and leaking all it's oil.
I just turned off the AC and the car was OK but it would occasionally act up so I unplugged the compressor and it has been OK since. Luckily when it went out, it was starting to cool off a bit so I didn't need the AC.
I still find it very odd that 2 minutes after fixing my waterpump it decided to crap out, for no apparent reason. It worked perfectly up to that point....
