Will balancing DS fix vibration?

Will balancing DS fix vibration?
I'm about to have my girl run up to ft wayne and have my ds balanced ( I can't b/c of work ), and I was just wondering if that would fix the horrible vibration I feel in it?
Also, where could I order online to get a replacement filter for my moroso cold air? It's pretty banged up and I'd like to replace it.

Re: Will balancing DS fix vibration?
IF you have an unblanaced DS that can cause vibration... so yeah... unless it's due to a more serious unforseen problem in your Drivetrain.
You should be able to get the Filter for the Moroso at AUtozone Pepboys ETC... it's just a regular K&N filter... all you need is the Part number to order it from them.

I work at a shop, and almost everything else has been checked and fixed! All the guys here point to the DS as the main culprit also. We'll see, I'm taking it out tomorrow!

Anyway, I wouldnt bother messing with trying to balance the stock ds, just replace it with an LS1 ds, you can get one for $100-$150 used. Many people have tried balancing the steel one only to still have vibration problems with it. The LS1 ds is much lighter and better balanced.

Whatever you do, have them check for run-out. My LS1 drive shaft had the ends welded off-center from GM. Once welded on-center the balance was perfect. The factory weights were no longer needed.

It can help, but it can screw things up worse... make sure they are balancing the DS at a high enough RPM. One local shop only does it to 3600rpms, which isn't fast enough.
I fought a vib problem for a long time, even a LS1 shaft didn't fix it; so be forewarned, it's not a fix-all.
The only thing that DID fix it was a NEW driveshaft made specially for me; Denny's Nitrous Ready.

Did you guys already forget...??? THe steal driveshafts always had bad Vibro problems... remember the GM recall...??? THat's why they decided to go aluminum in the LS-1.

Re: Will balancing DS fix vibration?
I've had a couple of 3rd gens. The last one I put a 3rd gen Al 1LE shaft in. There was no vibration issue, but the car was a 1LE and was missing the shaft, so I thought it should have the correct one.
Well, after some tool hit me on I-95, I picked up my '97 Formy. I went ahead and put the 3rd gen 1LE DS into her. What I noticed on this swap was that the 4th gen DS had a vibration damper on it from the factory. None of the 3rd gens I had were equipped with one of these. So the engineers must have done something about the vibration issue. The bean counters don't let them add parts for fun.
Anyway, just thought I'd throw that out there.
