Will a LS1 inake fit on a LT1

Maybe this is a stupid question, but I've always wondered. I realize you pretty much have to swap everything out if it did fit.

Or better yet, LS6 intake.

No, completely different. Even an LT4 intake will not fit on an LT1 (requires LT4 heads).

Almost nothing out of the LS1 will fit our engine. Not even the rockers. Oh well.

Not even with new heads? That seems retarded to me. It would be way too convenient don't you think for them to be able to swap. I guess that's how they get our $.

Just put an LS1 in your car. Virtually no parts are interchangeable between the engines.

The Gen III LS based engines are a COMPLETELY new design, and about the only thing they share with the traditional small block chevy is the number of cylinders. The Gen II LT based engines are the last revision of the traditional small block, but even they have some major differences from a tradional small block (reverse cooling is a major one).

In order to do a LS1 style intake you would need, LS1 radiator support, Lid, and a bellow that would fit the LT1 throttle body and the LS1 lid, it may seem tedeous but it can be done!!

Now thats where you are wrong mY friend. I have lt-1 heads w/ lt-4 intake. It took a little machining on the head But it fits.

The LS1/LS6 block is a completely new, clean sheet design that shares nothing in common in terms of design or parts with the LT1 or older V8s. Therefore no parts from an LS engine will bolt onto the older engines.

I understand that novices that are used to 50 years of the small block Chevy may have missed the fact the LS1 was totally new, or just assumed that since it is called the "Gen II Small Block" that there is some commonality there, but there isn't.

I usually just explain it as the same as trying to bolt Ford heads on a Chevy.

I've never personally looked close at a LS1/6 intake off the motor but could it fit maybe after lots of milling and cutting? Just a thought.

But by machining them, they are no longer stock. I knew it could be done, but I was trying not to confuse anyone. I guess I should have said the LT4 intake won't work with stock LT1 heads.
