Window tint, is this right?

I just had my 93 Z tinted 20% yesterday and the tint shop spit the rear window tint, right in the middle, so there is a 1/4 inch overlap. I also have an 89 camaro that I had tinted and it's a single sheet on the rear deck, which is bigger. Is this normal? The tint guy swears it's the only way to tint the rear deck, yet he has an RX-7 with a huge rear deck single sheeted. What's up? Should I make him retint it?

I've seen it both ways.. I dont think that you should make him redo it, but I mean thats up to you, do you want one sheet or does it not matter to you? My bud used to have a probe GT with a huge rear hatch window all done in one piece.. but i've seen professionally done windows with two and you cant tell from the outside.

A good tint guy can do it in one piece with no problem. In fact, I've never seen an F-body done with two...but then again, SoCal has some of the best tinters around.

My back window has three pieces, but the seams are only 1/16 and were trimed on the defroster lines. Very hard to see and looks good to me. I was told if theres a seem it belongs on one of the these lines.

Good friend of mine owns a tint shop here in Texas, he does all 3rd gen and 4th gen F-bodies rear windows with one piece. Heat shrink it with a heat gun, trim it, install it. Looks easy, but he has been doing it for at least 15 years, but only takes him about 15 minutes to shrink, trim, then install onto the glass after it has been cleaned properly. Nothing like having a friend in the business, those limo tint black windows match the black roof and black mirrors on a Z28.

ive had my firebird and camaro done by the best tint place in buffalo, and he used a one piece on both...i have since picked up a different hatch on my maro, and it had a 2 piece tint done to it, which looks like *** in comparison, i cant wait to get it re-done

if he will redo it with one piece, it will probably look better, depending on how the 2 piece was done

I had my rear window tinted and the guy did it with one piece. In my own opinion it is just a shortcut to do it with more than one, There is alot less work involved. I would have him re do it if your not happy. It can be done in one piece.

Mine was done with one piece. Good luck trying to get him to retint the window (have you ever removed tint and glue, huge PITA).

Mine is one piece. I was told it would be like 20 bucks more for the one piece than the 2 piece. I think you should have hime re do it.

Thx,
Claude
