WooHoo! Passed smog in CA!

Just got the car runiing, and was a bit worried if it would pass with this combo. It is a 383 stroker, 11:1 comp, LT4 heads and intake (LE ported) with a custom Comp cam, .574/.569 lift, 224/230 duration on 114 lobe centers. PCMForLess did the computer flash. Just a few problems to sort out, there's a bit of high-RPM pinging (Ca gas SUCKS!) and have to finish hooking up the N2O system. It felt strange to drive it again, it's been down for 6 years (hangs head in shame). Wish I could have put a little bit bigger cam in it, but this engine pulls harder now NA than the previous sprayed/ported LT1 heads/Comp 305 350ci engine did. Can't wait to put a few break-in miles on it and then spray it....should be interesting

Congrat on the test, I believe the 114 lobe helps alot to do with passing... Now enjoy your ride.

Where in CA are you from? Do you know how your engine was put together? Quench? DCR?

I'm in Lancaster, about 50 miles north of Los Angeles. I know exactly how the engine was put together, I built it . The pistons are SRP flattops, zero deck height, and a FelPro .039 gasket (compressed thickness). Heads are a 64cc chamber volume, when I bought them they had some work already done on them, then I sent them to LE to finish off. I'll have to check the DCR, I think it was Shoebox or Injuneer that has that on their site. Just dropped off the car at the stealership today to take care of the air pump recall, I should get it back tomorrow and then I can get the tags from DMV.

Good for you!! Any plans on taking it to the track so we can see some NA and nitrous times?

Of course! I want to break it in a bit, then I'll be heading out to Famosa in Bakersfield, since my local strip (LACR) closed down last year. My best time at LACR on the previous combo (2800' altitude, stock short-block with Comp 305 cam, ported stock heads and a 100 shot) was a 12.25 at 115.9. I'll also run it on a dyno in a few weeks, I need to make sure my fuel tables and ignition advance curves are spot-on. I talked to Bryan about the high-RPM pinging I heard, he suggested cleaning the MAF wires in case they may be oil-fouled, but if that doesn't solve the problem I'll have to have him pull some timing out, thanks to the crappy ****-water they pass off as gasoline out here. I want to be able to send him the dyno sheets if it comes to that, just to make sure it's all perfect.

Ah, beautiful Landscatter

Bring it on down to Fontana on 11/1 or 11/2 for the street legal event.

Yep, sounds like you know this place How is the strip at Fontana? Never seen it, but it sounds like a quality facility, unlike LACR which was pretty much a s**tbox... a close convenient s**tbox, but still pretty nasty. I might be able to make it there in November, just has to sort out the couple of issues I'm having. It would be great to run it again, I haven't been down a 1/4 mile in 6 years.
