At WOT car seems it should be stronger

Car runs great at part throttle and cruising. I think it should be stronger though when I mash it to the floor. Opti, plugs, wires, MAP, LT4 KM, and IAC are 2 months old. In past 6 months have added: coil, ICM, o2 sensors, MAF. I cleaned the air filter recently and fuel filter has been changed. I'm thinking I might have bad fuel pressure regulator or weak pump. Could this cause poor performance at wot but still be good at part throttle. I'm wanting to go with performance though instead of factory parts. What regulator and pump should I buy? Also I need a good fuel pressure gauge which should I get?

you gotta find out whats wrong with the car first before you start throwing parts at it

Yea I know, your right, but I don't know how to check it out besides doing pressure test and I need to buy me a gauge. I'm getting no SES lights and car runs good. But still could low fuel pressure cause it to not run as good at wot? These are the only things I can think of that might cause it to happen that I haven't already replaced. And besides the car has 150k miles and so far all the parts I have replaced have been original pieces so I assume fuel pump is too and will need be replacing before long.

Since its a A4 you might want to look at what MPh your flooring it, if im going 30mph and i floor it it wont shift into 1st and the acceleration sucks.

Take it to a dyno and see what it is doing. Also, do you have an MSD? Some people will tell you that you don't need it unless you are running nitrous or supercharger, but it definitely made a difference on my higher rpm range even before I rebuilt my motor.

autometer makes good gauges
edit: theyre expensive but worth every penny.....like "a good body man is expensive, a bad body man is really expensive"

I don't notice any mods that would provide noticable WOT performance. Am I missing someting here. Just curious.

Thanks,

Perhaps I should be more tactful with my response. What I meant was, a stock LT1 runs out of steam at WOT and that's why they respond so well to things like RRs, cams, heads, headers, tuning (all those mods that help it reach it's potential given the restrictions from the factory.) JMHO

I would love to take it to the track but closest 1/4 mile track is about 50 miles away. I don't know anywhere to get a dyno neither. Theres an 1/8 mile track nearby though, might have to run it there. I've outrun 3 LT1s on the street, (only LT1s I've ran btw). Races never went past 75 mph though. Maybe I've just gotten used to the power since my tuneup and now think its slow.

Re: At WOT car seems it should be stronger

Ok tonight coming home I stopped at a small stretch. Flipped my trip meter to zero. Put it in drive and got on it. Before the trip meter got to .150 I was doing 79-80 mph. This was with me spinning all through first gear and the stretch has a slight slope. Does this sound good for an estimated 1/8 mile speed. Before anyone says it, I know I need to take it to the track.
