Re: would i benefit from head work with the crane baby cam 210-227?
Well, I have baby in my 97SS along with ported stock heads and 2"/1.57" valves. Seem to have plenty of power, especially down. The crane cam is designed for heavy cars and a real stump puller. A former member of this board had a 97SS convert and had the small cam before he went with a 396.
His stock heads were CNC'd and along with a pair of lts made around 360 RWHP with a dyno tune.
Although the cam is considered a "baby" the fact that it is easily tuned and maintains good bottom end while providing good mid range while idling like a stocker, I prefer it to the larger cams for my own personal preference.
But the answer to your question is yes. I believe you would do well to have your heads worked on regardless of the cam you select. JMHO

I'de say it would, I dyno 352rwhp on it with the stock bottom end. It hand stump pulling lowend, great midrange, and pulled stronge to 6K. I could punch it at 2K and it would just put the tires up in smoke.
